I interviewed ChatGPT to find out if the hype around its new Study Mode matches what the product is actually capable of delivering to teachers and students. It differs from the regular chatbot in important ways, including a tone that brings humanlike friction to conversations that probe student understanding. Thankfully, it demands answers rather than delivering them.
